After yoga teacher training, I try to meditate daily, take the time to count my blessings, BREATHE through my stress, and flavor like a composure, more focused and centered version of myself. I feel more peaceful and patient throughout the day. I learned and I am still learning proper alignment for the asana. While I’ve learned many poses from attending this course of study on and off for the past few years, there were still many poses where I perfected, but I still need to practice and learn.

By far, it is the best decision I had ever made.

"I had an amazing experience taking yoga teacher training with Lacey Whitaker at Creative Motion Chicago. Lacey is so incredibly patient and encouraging. Sequencing seemed overwhelming to me and I wasn’t sure if I would ever completely get it. When we began learning to sequence, we sat all in a circle and each added a new movement or pose on to the one before it. That’s when it started to really click for me. It was also one of the moments I realized she’s not just an awesome yoga instructor, she’s really a great teacher."

Three reasons I am enjoying (enjoyed) YTT.

1. "I am enjoying the weekly gatherings the most. They are more than just a class. I enjoy exploring new concepts and new feelings with a group of like minded individuals. Additionally, the social interaction our group shares is the cherry on top. What I really enjoy is the safe space we create every week and that I feel comfortable enough to try new things and ask any questions."

2. "I am enjoying my personal exploration of the practice. I enjoy the changes in my mind, body, and soul as a result of my practice. I not only enjoy how I am able to progress in poses but also how my body continues to feel stronger in the poses I feel I do well. I also enjoy how I am able to use meditation to focus and calm my mind. I have been able to use this during times of turmoil and stress in my life."

3. "I am enjoying the different topics that we cover. From the history or yoga to various branches of yoga and even the talks about being in the flow and how to stay smart when things fall apart. I most enjoy the various talks we listen to because even though it is not brand new information I enjoy hearing these guides from a different perspective."

Three things I was not expecting from the course.

1. "I was not expecting to feel so comfortable in a new space. Sometimes I remain reserved for a time until I feel comfortable or have bonded with people in a new group. But on class number one I knew I could either put myself out there or remain reserved. I am glad I decided to put myself out there and embrace and different side of myself that I don't get to show as often as I would like."

2. "I did not expect to connect with energy of the body. Although I had knowledge of chakras and energy of the body I had not previously experienced it. I was surprised how I felt something during final relaxation before I even began YTT. I related to the energy before I was able to define it. I felt that after YTT and after I was able to define, I realized how much these types of energies were already apart of my life and now I am more open to them."

3. "I did not expect to enjoy challenging myself. The first time we were required to teach each other and lead a meditation I was very nervous and feeling insecure. Again I knew that I could decide to let these feelings hold me back or I could embrace them and put myself out there anyway. In both situations I feel that I did very well because I embraced both sides of my emotions, the positive and the negative, and just allowed my instincts to guide me through the experience. Even now, I am feeling nervous and insecure about my future demo class and 5 practice classes but I know that I can do it and I will be ok."

"Thanks for making us think about these! And thanks for creating a space where we could explore ourselves and bond with each other!"
